Rice (paddy)
Paddy, the unmilled form of rice, is a staple cereal crop primarily grown in tropical and subtropical regions where the climate is hot and humid, with temperatures ideally ranging between 25–35°C during the growing season. Successful paddy cultivation requires fields that can be flooded, as the crop needs abundant water and typically grows best in clayey or clay-loam soils that retain moisture well. Areas with high rainfall or reliable irrigation systems are most suitable for this crop, as it depends on consistent water supply for healthy growth. The crop also benefits from plenty of sunshine, especially during the ripening stage, which helps improve grain quality and overall yield.
