Wheat

Wheat is one of the most important staple cereal crops in the world, widely cultivated for its grains that are used to make flour for bread, chapati, pasta, and other food products. It grows best in cool, dry climates during the early stages and requires warm, sunny conditions at maturity. Wheat is typically grown in well-drained, fertile loamy or clay-loam soils with good water-holding capacity and a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. The crop needs moderate rainfall, about 50–75 cm annually, and excessive moisture or waterlogging can reduce yield. Optimal growth occurs at temperatures between 10–15°C during germination and 20–25°C during grain filling. Proper irrigation, balanced nutrient management, and timely sowing are essential for achieving healthy growth and high productivity in wheat cultivation.
