SunFlower
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is an important oilseed crop known for its high-quality edible oil and adaptability to diverse agro-climatic conditions. It grows best in warm climates with optimum temperatures ranging from 20–30°C and requires ample sunlight throughout its growth period. Sunflower thrives in well-drained loamy to sandy loam soils with good fertility and a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. The crop needs moderate rainfall of about 60–80 cm, though it can tolerate short periods of drought due to its deep root system. Proper irrigation during critical stages such as flowering and seed development, along with timely sowing and balanced nutrient management, is essential for achieving good yield and oil content.
