Tea

Tea is a widely consumed beverage crop valued for its leaves, which are processed to make tea. It grows best in tropical and subtropical regions with temperatures ranging from 18–30 °C and requires a humid climate with well-distributed annual rainfall of 1200–2500 mm. Tea plants prefer deep, well-drained, fertile soils rich in organic matter, typically slightly acidic with a pH of 4.5–5.5. The crop thrives in areas with gentle slopes to prevent waterlogging and soil erosion. Shade, adequate sunlight, and consistent moisture are important for healthy leaf development. Regular pruning, proper fertilization, and careful management of pests and diseases ensure high-quality tea leaves and sustainable yields.
