Cotton
Cotton is an important cash crop cultivated for its fiber, which is widely used in the textile industry. It grows best in warm climates with a long frost-free period and temperatures ranging from 21–30 °C. Cotton requires well-drained, fertile soils, preferably loamy or alluvial soils rich in organic matter, and does not tolerate waterlogged conditions. The crop needs moderate rainfall, around 600–1200 mm during its growing period, but excessive rain can harm the crop and encourage pests and diseases. Cotton plants require plenty of sunlight for healthy growth, and careful management of irrigation, fertilizers, and pest control ensures a good yield of high-quality fibers. It is generally grown in regions with a distinct dry season for harvesting.
