Mustard
Mustard is an important oilseed crop widely cultivated for its seeds, which are used for edible oil, spices, and condiments. It grows best in cool, dry climates and is mainly cultivated during the rabi season. Mustard requires moderate temperatures of about 10–15°C during early growth and 20–25°C at maturity. The crop thrives in well-drained loamy to clay loam soils with good fertility and a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. Mustard needs low to moderate rainfall, around 40–60 cm, and is sensitive to waterlogging and frost at flowering. Timely sowing, adequate irrigation at critical stages, and balanced nutrient management are essential for healthy growth and higher yields.
