Tomato
Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a widely cultivated vegetable crop valued for its nutritional richness and versatile culinary uses. It grows best in warm climates with optimum temperatures ranging from 20–30°C and requires ample sunlight for healthy growth and fruit development. Tomato thrives in well-drained sandy loam to loamy soils rich in organic matter, with an ideal pH range of 6.0 to 7.0. The crop requires moderate and regular irrigation, as both drought stress and waterlogging can affect flowering and fruit set. Tomatoes are sensitive to frost and extreme heat, and they perform best under balanced nutrient management, proper spacing, and timely pest and disease control to achieve high yield and good-quality fruits.
