Vegtables Crops
Vegetable crops are plants grown mainly for their edible parts, such as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits. They are an essential part of a balanced diet because they provide vitamins, minerals, fiber, and protective nutrients needed for good health. Most vegetable crops grow well in fertile, well-drained soils with good organic matter. They generally require adequate water, sunlight, and proper nutrient management. Depending on the crop, vegetables can be grown in different seasons such as Kharif, Rabi, or summer.
Tomato
Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is an important vegetable crop grown worldwide for its nutritional value and wide culinary use. It is a fast-growing plant and is cultivated in many climates.
Tomato grows best in well-drained loamy or sandy loam soils rich in organic matter, with a pH of 6.0–7.0. It requires a moderate climate with temperatures between 20–30°C, adequate sunlight, and regular but controlled irrigation. Excess water can cause diseases and fruit cracking.
Roots Vegtables
Root vegetables are a group of vegetable crops in which the edible part develops below the soil surface. These vegetables store food in their roots and are an important source of energy, vitamins, and minerals in the human diet.
Common root vegetables include carrot, radish, beetroot, turnip, and sweet potato. They are rich in carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins (especially vitamin A and C), and minerals such as potassium and iron.
Spices Vegtables(Onion, Ginger, Garlic,Tumeric)
Onion (Allium cepa) is an important bulb vegetable crop widely grown and used across the world for its flavor, nutritional value, and medicinal properties. It is a staple ingredient in many cuisines.
Onion grows best in well-drained loamy or sandy loam soils rich in organic matter, with a pH of 6.0–7.5. It requires a cool climate during early growth and a warm, dry climate during bulb formation and maturity. Adequate sunlight and moderate irrigation are essential, while waterlogging should be avoided
Leafy Vegetables
Leafy vegetables are vegetable crops grown mainly for their edible green leaves. They are an important part of a healthy diet because they are rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants.
Common leafy vegetables include spinach, cabbage, lettuce, fenugreek, coriander, and amaranthus. These vegetables are especially rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, calcium, and folic acid, which help improve immunity and prevent nutritional deficiencies.
Chilli
Chilli grows best in well-drained loamy or sandy loam soils with a pH of 6.0–7.5. It requires a warm climate, with an ideal temperature range of 20–30°C, moderate rainfall, and plenty of sunlight. Excess rainfall or waterlogging can harm the crop.
Potato
Potato (Solanum tuberosum) is an important tuber vegetable crop grown widely across the world as a major source of food and energy. It is valued for its high yield, nutritional content, and versatility in cooking.
Potato grows best in well-drained, loose sandy loam or loamy soils rich in organic matter, with a pH of 5.5–6.5. It prefers a cool climate, with ideal temperatures of 15–25°C. Adequate soil moisture is required, especially during tuber formation, but waterlogging should be avoided
